Reviews

"Fantastic intro to sign book with a school theme. Easy to follow instructions and delightful illustrations. Love the repetition of the inclusive message “everyone is welcome.” As a speech therapist, I will recommend to families. My own kids picked up the signs after one read! I do wish it included the sign for school since it’s called School Signs."

"If you are looking to introduce common first day/school ASL into your early childhood or elementary classroom, this is the perfect resource! This book focuses on multiple common classroom/first day necessities for children! It connects the focus material to real life situations which help the children connect the idea and material to the sign and when they may use the sign! You can differentiate this book for many different levels! An inclusive teachers dream!"

As a teacher and mom, I loved this book. It includes vocabulary used in school and how to sign them. I love that the message is to have an inclusive school. I know I will read it again and again to my students and my own kids at home.

Why Learn Sign Language?

I learned sign language to communicate with a student, and I fell in LOVE!

My entire class jumped on board. We had so much fun making games, songs, and dances to help our classroom family learn! Students were excited to teach their families, and some even made sign language clubs during their recess time to teach students outside of our classroom!

Their kindness was contagious!

So why learn sign language? Let me quote one of my first graders...

"Everyone should learn sign language because it stretches your brain, and you can make new friends!"
